DESIGN & BUILD

WHAT WE DO

MACURI is a Land and  Design & Build specialist based in Yorkshire.

For us, every new project is an opportunity to develop something unique  and personnel,  Beautifully designed, expertly planned and professionally delivered.

Design and build is our project delivery method in which we act as a single entity, responsible for both the design and construction phases of a project. This approach contrasts with traditional project delivery methods, where design and construction are typically split between separate contracts and parties.

Here are the main benefits of the design and build method:

1. Single Point of Responsibility: One entity is responsible for both design and construction, which simplifies communication and coordination. The owner has a single point of contact for the entire project.

2. Streamlined Process: The design and build method can be more efficient than traditional methods. This often results in faster project completion times since construction can begin before the final design is fully completed.

3. Cost Control: With a single entity responsible for both design and construction, there is a greater opportunity for cost savings and budget control.

4. Collaborative Approach: The design-build method fosters a collaborative relationship between the owner and the design-build contractor.

5. Risk Management: By consolidating design and construction responsibilities, the design-build method can reduce the owner’s risk.

6. Accountability: With a single entity accountable for the entire project, there is often a higher level of accountability for the quality and performance of the finished project.

DESIGN & BUILD PROCESS

For us, every new project is an opportunity to develop something unique  and personel,  Beautifully designed, expertly planned and professionally delivered

Design & Build Process:

1. Project Planning and Feasibility: The client outlines the project requirements, goals, and budget. Preliminary studies and feasibility assessments may be conducted.

2. Request for Proposal (RFP): The owner issues an RFP to potential design-build contractors, outlining the project scope, objectives, and any specific requirements.

3. Proposal Submission and Selection: Design-build contractors submit proposals detailing their approach, including design concepts, cost estimates, and timelines. The owner evaluates the proposals and selects a design-build contractor.

4. Design Phase: The selected design-build contractor develops detailed designs based on the owner’s requirements. This phase may include preliminary design, schematic design, and final design.

5. Construction Phase: Once the design is sufficiently developed, construction begins. The design-build contractor manages all aspects of construction, ensuring the project is built according to the design and within the agreed budget and schedule.

6. Completion and Handover: Upon completion of construction, the project is handed over to the owner. The design-build contractor may also be responsible for post-construction services, such as commissioning and maintenance.
